Lactation Department
The Lactation Department is a hidden jem at Plantation General Hospital. Their goal is to support and promote breastfeeding as the natural and most advantageous way to feed your infant. Every mother delivering at PGH who decides to breast feed her newborn, will receive a complimentary visit from the lactation department.
The Lactation Department is directed by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and is open daily for consultations during which a certified consultant provides an assessment, education, and supprt in breastfeeding your baby.
The lactation department offers support and encouragement for the breast feeding mother, consultations with board certified lactation consultants, prenatal breast feeding classes, support groups, and breast pump rentals. The breast pump rental station not only has top of the line breast pumps, it also has nursing bras, clothing, breast milk storage and containers, and various other accessories for sale to the public.
