Women's Pavilion

The Women's Pavilion provides a compassionate and warm environment for the mother and her new baby.  The Women's Pavilion encourages a family-friendly approach to caretaking the newborn, which is based on the thinking that newborns should be with their mothers as much as possible following delivery.  Therefore, the Women's Pavilion does not have a traditional nursey.  Rather, once your baby is bathed, warmed, stabilized and adjusted to the surrondings in the receiving nursery, your baby will accompany you in the room.

By having your baby with you in the room, you will become more familiar with your baby's personal rhythms and get to know your baby through cuddling and touching.  Also, feeding "cues" will be established so that breast feeding will be off to a good start!  You will also enjoy the peace of mind knowing that your baby is close by your hand and your heart.  A specialized and trained mother/baby nurse will be available to you and your baby.  And room service is provided at your request so that you may order food and drink when it is most convenient for you.  Additionally, a breast feeding class is provided each day to mothers and babies in the Women's Pavilion.

Plantation General Hospital has private suites for an additional fee.  These rooms are available upon request and availability.
